“The very essence of martial arts is the thirst for knowledge and the truth about ourselves.” — Frank Shamrock

Martial arts are a world filled with the beauty of fighting, self-defense, and simply just putting yourself up for a new hobby. Whether you are challenging yourself through the barrier or getting yourself something productive to do in your free time, there is no doubt that you must have the right knowledge and experience of what you are doing in mixed martials and I have come to provide you with the right ideas, mindset, and knowledge you will need to get started in mixed martials arts or any sport dealing with fighting and combat.

There are multiple branches associated with the arts of mixed martial arts. Many of them involves using either your strength on your legs or the strength on your arms while in practice. Martial arts were solely invented for survival and self-defense purposes, and the practice dates to thousands of years BC when Ancient Chinese martial arts were practice during the Xia Dynasty. Many historians believed that these practices were used for soldiers to excel in combat.

Capoeira, a martial art of Brazil that combines dance, musical instruments, and fighting movements to defeat an opponent. It was invented by enslaved people who originated from west and west-central Africa to Brazil, it was invented due to the Africans desire of freedom and breaking through the chains of slavery. This martial art was never seen as “deadly” or “scary” during the 16th century because its identity was sealed through the music, dance, and songs that were presented. In the 18th century, the art of Capoeira begins to rise, students were being actively taught and practiced as more slaves were being allowed in Brazil, although the government begin to dislike the popularity of the art, Capoeira was commonly used against colonial guards leading the practice to be viewed as dangerous and the government begin to set up severe punishments to those who engage in the art.

Although, Capoeira was decriminalized by the government in the 1930s. So, in the 1970s, many Capoeira experts began to travel across the world and present it off in other countries and often established their own schools for this specific art. As of current years, take 2008 for an example, Capoeira achieved the status of cultural patrimony, as well as being added to the list of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage in the year 2014.

        Basic techniques of Capoeira:

Capoeira is an amazingly fast-paced art, intended to focus heavily on fighting outnumbered crowds or disadvantages regarding technology wise. It widely consisted of using the lower body to kick, trick, and take down attackers, while using the upper body to aid yourself in certain movements, sometimes using it to attack as well.

The fundamental movement involved in Capoeira is called “Ginga” in English, its translation is “To swing; rocking back and forth.” It is a triangular movement that looks like a rhythmic dance than the usual Orthodox fighting stance. The intentions of this footwork are to provide preparation for the body any form of movements, for example implementing attacks and evading up-coming attacks, while you are switching stances in a continuous pattern, filling your opponent’s mind up with confusion.

Capoeira commonly used a mixture of acrobatics and rolls that require enough flexibility and range of skill to carry out. They are usually used to maneuver your way out of takedowns and imbalance, as well as positioning themselves around the attacker in a stealth motion to attack once their body is lay up on the ground.

Albeit this movement is expressed disparately amongst the two distinct forms of Capoeira. These forms have been consisted of Capoeira Angola and Capoeira regional. Capoeira Angola or to some preferences, “Capoeira de Angola” is proposed within reference to numerous forms of Capoeira that preserves traditions prior to the formation of the regional method. Its origins can be directed further since the colonial times within Brazil, its existence was rather of abundant growth in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and Recife, despite this known information, it is difficult to formulate a distinction of when and where Capoeira Angola's presence was made known.

The designation “Angola” constructed an appearance since the early beginnings of slavery amongst Brazilian regions. Africans that were extracted from Luanda, now formally known in present times as the capital and populated city in Angola, to be transported to the Americas, were often branded in Brazil as “black people from Angola”, notwithstanding to their nationality. Due to the arise of individuals within some places in Brazil referring to Capoeira as “playing Angola”, innumerable of Capoeira schools begin to use “Capoeira Angola” in illegal manners during the beginning of the 1920s era.

Capoeira Angola is conventionally characterized by strategic, stealthily sneaking moments engineered standing or appearing near the floor, obstructing their stances based on the dependence of the situation they’ll have to encounter. Meanwhile, the regional style of Capoeira differs in immense quantity in comparison to the Angola method in regard to its origins and techniques.

Capoeira regional’s background formulated in the 1920s during an encounter of Mestre Bimba when he had made discovery of his future student, José Cisnando Lima. Both of these individuals held the belief that Capoeira’s martial side was fading and in conclusion came under agreement that strengthening and restructuring was required. Bimba begins to manufacture his own teaching combinations (branded as Sequências de ensino) leading to the creation of Capoeira’s first teaching method. During this period, Capoeira was demanded as illegal, so Cisnando advised Bimba to name his style “Luta Regional Baiana”.

The methods involved in the practice of Regional Capoeira has similarities to the original Capoeira, although, without the numerous aspects of that would be deemed as “impractical” in a real fight. Their techniques are primarily focused on attacks, dodging, and counterattack, providing upmost significance to clear precision and discipline.

Closing remarks:

If Capoeira is something you’ll discovering interest within it, you should engulf yourself with dedication focusing solely on their attacks and techniques unitized within their attacks. If you would love to learn about the techniques and methods Capoeira consisted of, I’ll be glad to write an article on that discussion.
Capoeira’s history is what formulates its uttermost aesthetic. Their precised attention to detail and protection is what makes it such a distinct martial art, as it differs in such ways from modern aged arts.

“The sound of a shotgun being cocked into position towards the animal had frightened it. The animal turned it is body, sniff for smell of the predator, looking over with no clue that the ones who were to protect the innocent animal was plotting to kill it.”

Animal abuse is spreading and has been increasing since the COVID-19 pandemic had begun. Animal abuse was first recognized in 1635, when a law was passed to prevent animal cruelty by tearing the wool off sheep while they are still alive. Before then, animal abuse was treated as a joke, and few seen it as a concern for the health of humanity. People only began signifying it as something that was considered “abuse” in the early 19th and late 18th centuries, many laws were being passed throughout areas that presented itself in North America and Europe. It was as well getting recognition in the U.K. An act titled “The cruel treatment of Cattle Act 1822” It is also known as the “Martin’s Act” after the Irish politician and animal rights campaigner, Richard Martin.

This act is notorious for being one of the first recorded pieces of animal welfare legislation and the act was considered remarkably successful in protecting such animals as ox, cow, sheep, steer, and other cattle. Although, it soon would be repealed by the “Cruelty to animals act 1849”. Though, Martin had soon been credited as one of the founding members of the Royal society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which was one of the world’s first animal welfare charities, in 1824.

Henry Stephens Salt was argued as one of the first writers to express his anger towards animal cruelty and to form a book about it. His “Animals’ Rights: Considered in Relation to Social Progress” was produced in the year 1892, he wrote about getting animal cruelty to be a forceful law, rather than getting better welfare as well as encouraging others to do the same, he wanted people to see the issues of animal abuse and addressed them in a proper manner rather than take it as a grain of salt. Though there are history leading up to the protection of animal rights, the animal rights movement was not formed by just one person but certain influential figures throughout the years.

Women were the majority of those who were supporting of the animal rights movement, while men did make a minority of those who spoke out against the cruelty of animals, women took up more against and were extensively biased towards animal exploitation. Despite the wide acknowledgement of this evidence, men were still rushed to be credited as those who discovered and argued activism against animal abuse, as cited in an article from the nonprofit organization faunalytics.org, “Richard Ryder is among the well-known figures in modern times, having coined the term speciesism in 1970 to describe human chauvinism towards other species.” It gave description of the men who were said to contribute greatly towards the animal’s rights movement.

Although, still to this day, legal rights of animals have not been recognized or took as seriously as abuse and cruelty towards another human. The federal and state governments chosen to refer laws to welfare instead of rights. Thus, dismissing animals as a form of “property” and should be dealt with “uncondemning” harm to animals, therefore giving a free pass to harming an animal in a way that is seen as “justifiable” or “rightful” other than controversial. The laws that are exist today fails to provide true protection for animals. In many cases that have been documented and recorded, the harsh treatment for animal cruelty is solely to appeal to human amusement. The Animal Welfare Act, passed in the year 1966 out of fear for the harsh treatment cats and dogs have experienced when being used in laboratory research, as well as including other animal exploitation problems, such as animals being forced into entertainment acts and captive breeding.

The only issue with this act is that it completely ignores the issues of the continuous savagely hunting and fishing of animals, both actions which involves the slaughter of animals. Therefore, making the Animal Welfare Act yonder from being an anti-cruelty law. There are many other federal laws that concerning animals similarly the way Animal Welfare Act does. For example, the Endangered Species Act, is an act that provides for the conservation and protection for endangered species of fish, wildlife, and plants and outlines penalties for those who inappropriately use them. There are many factors that continues to keep animal cruelty as an acceptable thing that is permitted furthermore by the government and society’s point of view of what is negotiable and classified as abuse, such as the dependence on animals that has risen in numbers since the beginning of the epidemic.

Dependence on animal products could be seen throughout the history of western civilization and foreign societies. For example, animal-derived ingredients are commonly used in makeup, those products would consist of honey, beeswax, lanolin, and gelatin, which all are made from the decomposition of animals.

What are some ways I could help contribute to the animal’s rights movement?

There are many ways you can help contribute to the presentation of animal cruelty and help spread support for the animal’s rights movement. I’ve written many ways you could aid in the prevention of animal cruelty below.

Proper care amongst your pet:

One of the first ways you could help is by being a responsible and sensible pet owner; by acknowledging your responsibility that comes with taking great care and learning more about your pet’s breed and personal needs, such as the amount of grooming they require to be well-kept, how much attention is essential for their health along with products that will help you take care of your pet. Detecting the basics of your pet’s needs helps to ensured that you won’t have any conflict along the way.
It is also sufficient to ensure that your pets are receiving checkups on a daily basis to remain in upmost condition. Keeping count of the days your pet would’ve to receive a visit to the veterinary clinic for a vaccine or other procedures that are due will aid in providing your pet with the uttermost comfort amongst their health.

Educating children and individuals on their behavior within animals in their environment:

Instructing individuals who has very faint and distinct experiences within animals or has experienced an ill encounter while enduring animals could contribute readily to their perceptions of animals in this contemporary juncture. Demonstrating a good example by showcasing how to be respectful towards animals, caring for them in a proper manner, and assisting them with their personal needs helps the individual and/or child to gain a broader view of how they should provide animals with the maximal respect as they would to a human being.

Advocating for stricter laws regarding animal cruelty cases:

As I have mentioned earlier, animal cruelty cases are managed within the bare minimum that should be required. As an individual, joining in on the advocacy of stronger animal welfare laws and penalties that are harsher in opposition to the cruelty of animals would further aid in the lessening of cruelty cases and prevent numerous individuals from ever behaving in such a way towards animals.

Closing remarks:

As there seems to never be an end to animal cruelty, I would not hold an anticipation for the inadequacy amongst the worlds. Instead, my heart has clenches onto the earnest desire of my soul; one that strives to behold the extremity of cruelty, that is, concerning the abuse inflicted upon women, men, children, elders, and animals. Albeit, when the Earth obstructs suspension amongst its planets and halts continuous rotation within its axis, there would plausibly be, under no circumstances, peace amidst the world.
Therefore, I do not wish for numerous individuals to force themselves into the advocacy of animals’ rights, I just held the perception that one individual fighting for a cause that has substantially endangered the world’s best friends, animals, could encourage others to do the same.

Plants are wonderful things that have been gifted to us from the universe. It not only helps us breath better but also provides us with the food we love to feast on a daily basis. Botany is the deeper study of plants and their nature; it covers the biology and phytology of plant life and other branches of biology on other organisms. A plant’s personal needs are very simple to keep up with, but not quite simple for those who are always in a hurry, having a constant busy schedule, or is stuck in-between their school exams, whatever the case may be, it’s quite hard for many to keep up with their plants and understand their names, I’ll try to help you with this by listing some of the basic survival needs of a plant.

Basic survival needs of a plant and the logics behind it:

• Providing the plant with their daily dose of water. Water is necessary and essential for our plants; it is how they use their energy from the sun to create food for themselves. During the process of watering your plant down, they’ll use the carbon dioxide from the air and hydrogen from the water they’re absorbing through their roots and release oxygen as their byproduct. And it is personally best to water your plants during the morning or (if you don’t have enough time in the morning) during the evening. Just so, if the leaves get wet, they’ll have more time to dry out.
• Giving your plants the sunlight, they need to grow better. This is a very common rule of growing your plants and keeping them healthy, it’s best to keep them outside in the sunlight or allowed them to have an effective source of gaining sunlight other than being outside. Plants absorb energy from the sun and produce the nutrients they need in order to survive. Although, too much sunlight is a dangerous thing and if they absorb more energy than they should have, this can lead to critical conditions and the excess can damage crucial proteins.
• Giving your plants space and air to breath in healthily and safely. The plant’s living roots need oxygen and plenty of space to breathe in and grow along the way. The leaves also need space so the sunlight can get to them, and oxygen helps them covert the food they produced into energy.
• Providing plants with the structure they truly deserve. Plants need structure that will help them survive, since plants have all different kinds of parts on their body such as roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruits. There are structures to help them survive within their confirmed comfort and a healthy environment, there are some materials that help to anchor their roots and shelter them from crucial conditions, are greenhouses, although, these are very harmful to the environment but helpful in protecting plants. I do believe we should learn other ways of protecting our plants while protecting our environment all together.

As I have said earlier, plants are very difficult to deal and keep up with maintaining their personal health, but this doesn’t have to always be difficult, we could also change our routines in protecting the environment by not using greenhouses but yet there’s not much that works as useful as greenhouses does for plants. Don’t quote me on that though, there might be something but I’m sure we all personally prefer planting and gardening traditionally, so I don’t use greenhouses, but I have heard of many who does, they mainly use them as a protection source for plants during the winter and harsh conditions. Still, if you have a disliking for greenhouses, you definitely don’t have to take that as an advice of helping your plants out.

And for beginning gardeners, I personally believe you should do it in a traditional way to get used to it, rather than using greenhouses or in-house platforms. You could also plant around the country, planting in your local park (where it’s allowed for citizens and goers to plant and garden onto the grass), and even planting in your car (it’s possible!), truck, or motorcycle (that has available space for it to be done).
